World Space Week begins

World Space Week, established by the UN, commemorates this day in 1957 when the first human-made Earth satellite was launched into outer space for exploration. The week also celebrates the outer space treaty of 1967. World Space Week is the largest annual space event in the world, officially defined as “an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition”.
