World Smile Day was coined and initiated by Harvey Ball, an artist who created the yellow Smiley Face in 1963. The day is devoted to smiles and acts of kindness throughout the world. The smiley face has no politics, no geography and no religion. Harvey Ball intends World Smile Day to be a day where as a society, we too have no politics, geography and religion.
