World Kiswahili Language Day

World Kiswahili Language Day is a holiday celebrated annually on July 7th to recognize the importance of Kiswahili, one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa. The day was established by the General Conference of UNESCO in November 2021, and the first celebration took place in 2022. Kiswahili is a Bantu language and one of the four main African languages used by the African Union. This holiday celebrates the cultural significance of Kiswahili and its contribution to African heritage and identity. The recognition of Kiswahili globally celebrates the multicultural enrichment and way of life of the African people in general.
