World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development
The day was established by UNESCO at its 40th General Conference in 2019, and highlights engineers and engineering’s achievements in our modern world. It’s a day for increasing awareness around the role of engineering in modern life, which is essential to mitigate the impact of climate change and progress sustainable development. Hundreds of events are held worldwide each year, including a UNESCO-run hackathon where teams of engineers across the world work together in competition to achieve a goal.
