World Day Against Child Labour
Proclaimed by the UN in 2002, this day raises awareness about the worldwide prevalence of child labour, which is defined as work that is detrimental to children, and the efforts needed to eradicate this subset of child employment. According to UN agency the International Labour Organization (ILO), of the 218 million children in employment worldwide, 152 million children are in child labour, half of whom are in hazardous work.
