World Cancer Day

Led by the Union for International Cancer Control since the year 2000, this is an international day to raise awareness and improve education on all forms of cancer. Events taking place worldwide educate and raise money to research new forms of treatment, serving as a reminder that the global community has a role to play in reducing the harmful impacts of cancer. Each year has a theme, such as ‘close the gap’, serving to educate and counter the barrier socioeconomic factors play in diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
