Wallis and Futuna Territory Day

Wallis and Futuna Territory Day is a public holiday celebrated on July 29th each year in the Territory of the Wallis and Futuna Islands. The day commemorates the islands becoming a French overseas territory in 1961. The holiday is celebrated with parades, festivals, traditional dancing, singing, and lots of food. Smoke meats, taro, and breadfruit are some of the traditional foods served during the festivities.
