Vanuatu Constitution Day

Vanuatu Constitution Day is celebrated on October 5th every year to commemorate the signing of the Constitution of Vanuatu in 1979. This public holiday celebrates the country’s independence from France and the United Kingdom on July 30, 1980. The Constitution was the result of a committee made up of various parties and representatives from all over the country. The day is marked by many ceremonial and government events throughout the Vanuatuan archipelago, including patriotic speeches, special governmental ceremonies, and other festive events. It is a day of remembrance dedicated to the leaders who framed the country’s first laws and showcases the unity of Vanuatu’s leaders in pursuing a common goal.
