V.I. Emancipation Day

V.I. Emancipation Day is a cultural holiday celebrated on July 3rd in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It commemorates the official abolition of slavery in the West Indies islands. More than 9,000 enslaved people were freed on this day in 1848. The holiday is celebrated with parades, cultural events, and traditional food. It is an important day to honor the history and cultural heritage of the Virgin Islands and to remember the struggles and sacrifices of those who fought for freedom. V.I.
