The Day of Valor (Philippines)
Aka Bataan Day or Araw ng Kagitingan, this is an annual national public holiday in the Philippines. It is a day of remembrance for the heroism and sacrifice of the Filipino and American soldiers who fought in the Battle of Bataan that occurred between the Allied forces and the Japanese army during World War II between 7 January and 9 April 1942. After losing this battle, many of the soldiers were subjected to the infamous Bataan Death March, a brutal forced march that resulted in the deaths of thousands of prisoners of war.
