Shattila Ekadashi falls on the eleventh day of Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Magha. On this day devotees worship Lord Vishnu to seek blessings for protection and wellbeing of their family. It is considered that observing fast known as Papaharni Vrat, on this day can help one get rid of their sins and attain moksha.

This day also encourages people to do charity work, feed the poor and help the underprivilaged.
