Saints Cyril and Methodius

Saints Cyril and Methodius Day is celebrated on July 5th in the Czech Republic and other Slavic countries. The two brothers, who were missionaries from Greece, are credited with creating the Cyrillic alphabet and spreading Christianity to the Slavic people. The day is celebrated with solemn masses in churches, and Czechs gather to honor the two brothers. Saints Cyril and Methodius are revered as national saints in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and their name day is a national holiday in these countries. The Cyril and Methodius Route, a cultural route of the Council of Europe, focuses on presenting the cultural heritage of the two saints.
