The 7th day of Zhengyue, which is the first month in the traditional Chinese Calendar, is Renri – the day humans were created by Nuwa, the goddess who created the world. According to Chinese mythology, the 7th day after creating the world, humans were created – after chickens, dogs, boars, sheep, cows and horses. As Renri is also the birth of fire, fireworks are set off in celebration. Renri is celebrated not only in China, but across all parts of the world with Chinese ancestry and influence.
