    Peru Independence Day

Peru Independence Day is celebrated on July 28th and 29th to commemorate the country’s independence from Spain in 1821. The holiday is also known as Fiestas Patrias, and it is one of the most important national holidays in Peru. The celebrations start on the evening of July 27th with concerts and cultural activities across plazas and parks in Peru organized by different municipalities across the country. The major celebrations take place in Lima, where the flag is raised at the Cathedral, followed by a 21-gun salute on July 28th. On July 29th, there is a large military parade to honor the Peruvian Armed Forces and National Police of Peru. The holiday is a time for Peruvians to celebrate their national pride and cultural heritage, with parades, festivals, and fireworks in other towns and cities throughout Peru. The celebrations are accompanied by large levels of eating and drinking, a practice that seems to have a long tradition in both indigenous and Spanish cultures.
