    Orthodox Pentecost

Also called the ‘Feast of Pentecost’, ‘Trinity Day’ or ‘Descent of the Holy Spirit’ this is an Orthodox Christian holiday that occurs 50 days after Orthodox Easter and always falls on a Sunday. It celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, miraculously enabling them to speak to the Jews of Jerusalem in the multitude of native languages of those gathered, as described in the Acts of the Apostles. It also marks the full revelation of the divine Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, leading to the birth of the Christian Church. It is a festival of renewal.
