Orthodox New Year

According to the Julian Calendar used by many Orthodox Christians instead of the more ubiquitous Gregorian Calendar, New Year’s Day falls on 14 January. On this day, many people attend New Year’s Day services at their church and enjoy traditional dinners and social gatherings. It is a popular day in many countries, but not a public holiday.
