New Year’s Day

Celebrated around the world, New Year’s Day marks the beginning of the year in the Gregorian modern calendar. The night before is celebrated with fireworks and large public and private celebrations around the world. January 1st is a national holiday in many countries, and the day used for recovery from the holiday period, and to reflect on the year that has gone before and make resolutions for change in the coming year. In some places, there is an annual parade on New Year’s Day.
