Nayrouz – Coptic New Year

Aka Neyrouz, Coptic Orthodox community have been celebrating Nayrouz (New Year) on around this date for more than 1700 years. The Coptic Orthodox church is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. The date falls on the first day of the first month of the Egyptian year (Thout), which usually coincides with 11 September on the Gregorian calendar.
