Navaratri is a Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of the goddess Durga. It spans nine nights and involves various rituals, dance performances, and the celebration of the victory of good over evil. In Nepal, the day is also called Ghatasthapana. This day marks the beginning of nine days of Dashami or Dashain festivities. It involves placing of a sacred pot or kalash/ ghada inside one’s home or business, signifying a sacred offering for goddess Durga. Hindus accross Nepal sow wheatgrass seeds on this day, that will be used as holy offering during Dashami rituals.
