National Day (Spain)

The National Day of Spain, known as Hispanic Day, commemorates the date that Christopher Columbus first arrived in the Americas and celebrates the Spanish legacy to the world. The day is traditionally and commonly known as Dia de la Hispanidad, and celebrates the country’s history, achievements and commitment to the nation’s future. Spanish law declares this date as the beginning of a period of cultural and linguistic projection beyond the boundaries of European influence.
