04 August

National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day (Australia)

Historically, this date was celebrated as the birthdays of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were taken from their families and did not know the date of their birthday. Today it is an opportunity to remember and show support for the children as well as educating us on the impact that family, culture, and community play in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
