Amavasya or new moon day is considered important in Hinduism. It is an auspicious day to offer remembrance to one’s ancestors through sacred rituals, to do chairty and feed the Brahmins to earn good attributes. The day however is considered inauspicious for weddings, engagements and to enter new homes or businesses.
