Liberation Day (Bulgaria)

This is Bulgaria’s National Day. It is a public holiday in Bulgaria. Liberation Day, or ‘Day of Liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Dominion’ commemorates the Liberation of Bulgaria during the Russo-Turkish war (1877–1878). The Treaty of San Stefano, which was signed on 3 March 1878, led to the re-establishment of Bulgarian statehood. In Bulgaria, residents around the country lay flowers and notes at monuments to the fallen of the war. There are also military parades.
