Lent begins/Ash Wednesday

Six weeks before Easter, Lent begins – it is arguably the most important time of the year for Christians worldwide, especially Anglican, Catholic and Orthodox denominations. A time of solemn observance and preparation for the celebration of the resurrection and death of Jesus at Easter, from its beginning on Ash Wednesday, it is a time of fasting or abstinence – individuals will often choose something to give up for this time frame, to remind themselves of Jesus’ life, death and sacrifice.
