Kupala Night
Also called ‘Kupalle’ this is a traditional pagan Slavic holiday, predating Christianity, connected to the summer solstice but celebrated on this day in Belarus, Russia and Ukraine (the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia celebrate Kupala night on the actual solstice. There are many rituals, especially fertility rites, associated with Kupala night. It is not a public holiday.
