Also called ‘Buddhist Lent’, this Buddhist holiday falls on the first day after the full moon of the eighth lunar month. It also marks the first day of the rainy season and the time when many monks retreat to their temples and monasteries for three months, to study and meditate. There are many Khao Phansa festivals held all over Thailand during this period.
