Kathina

Kathina is a Buddhist festival commencing at the end of Vassa. Vassa, the three-month rainy season retreat for Thervada Buddhists in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. On this day, Buddhists bring donations to monks to express their gratitude.Buddhists bring donations to temples, including new robes gifted to the monks. The gift of the Eight Requisites, known as the attha parikara is also part of the offerings.
