Kadooment Day

Kadooment Day is a public holiday celebrated every first Monday of August in Barbados. It marks the finale of the six-week Crop Over festival and is one of the most vibrant celebrations of all the holidays in Barbados. The festival has its roots in the 18th century when enslaved people were allowed to celebrate the end of the sugar cane harvest. Today, the festival is a celebration of Barbadian culture, music, and dance. The streets of Bridgetown are filled with colorful costumes, lively music, and dancing as revelers parade through the streets. The day is a time for Barbadians to come together and celebrate their heritage and culture.
