Juneteenth aka Freedom Day (US)
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day in the United States, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Designated as a federal public holiday as of 2021, Juneteenth serves as a day of remembrance, education, and celebration of African-American culture. It is also referred to as Jubilee Day, Emancipation Day, and Black Independence Day. Celebrated as a multicultural holiday in many parts of the US, Juneteenth provides an opportunity to honor the resilience and contributions of African Americans while advocating for equality and justice for all.
