Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Krishna. Krishna was the eighth avatar of Vishnu. The celebration begins on the 18th and ends the following day. There are many rituals during the celebrations, dance dramas depicting the life of Krishna, prayers and devotional singing through midnight when Krishna was born. The following day a festival occurs.
