Janai Purnima (Nepal)
Janai Purnima is one of the most important festivals of Nepal. This festival falls on a full moon day and is commemorated by changing the sacred thread worn by Brahmin and Chettri men. The thread, called ‘Janai’, represents purity and sacredness. Specially prepared ‘Kwati’, a distinct soup made of mixed beans and spices, is traditionally consumed by Nepalese on this day.
