In 1999 The United Nations General Assembly declared August the 12th to be International Youth Day. Each year a theme is chosen, with input from youth organisations, in 2021 the theme was ‘Transforming food systems: Youth innovation for human and planetary health’. Around the world, youth are encouraged to plan activities that highlight the needs of the youth in their areas. There is also a virtual commemoration on the day.
