International Mother Language Day

Created by the UN in 1999, Mother Language Day is designated to celebrate multilingual and multicultural societies and the role of language, transmitting and preserving traditional knowledge. Every two weeks a language disappears, and an estimated 43% of the 6000 languages spoken in the world are endangered.
