International Literacy Day

International Literacy Day was created by UNESCO in 1966. It is a day to raise public awareness around the world of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. Today there are at least 773 million young people and adults who lack basic literacy skills.
