Established by the UN in 1995, the purpose of this day is to promote international cooperation, raise public awareness of the diversity and unity of humankind, develop intercultural exchanges, reaffirm the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous people and recognise the traditions and worldviews of indigenous peoples.
