International Day of Rural Women, created by the United Nations, recognises the role rural women and girls play in the world’s food systems. While they do not have equal power to men, earning less income and experiencing food scarcity, these women work through the production of crops, processing, preparing, and distributing foods. On this day, there is an opportunity to commit to different ways of rebuilding a global food system that can benefit all.
