16 June
International Day of Family Remittances
Established by the UN in 2018, the purpose of this day is to recognise the more than 200 million workers who send money home to more than 800 million family members. It is a key initiative in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The UN calls for governments, the private sector, development organisations and the civil society to promote digital and financial solutions for remittances that foster greater social and economic resilience and inclusion.
