International Day of Charity was created by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. The date marks the anniversary of the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta in 1997. The purpose of International Day of Charity is to increase and enhance social responsibility across the entire world, raise awareness for charity-related activities and help others through volunteer and philanthropic activities.
