International Day of Argania

The UN established the International Day of Argania in 2021 to recognise the unique area where argan trees flourish, promoting agricultural diversity, strong ecosystems and rich cultural heritage. This day emphasises the need to safeguard the argan tree (Argania spinosa), a native species of sub-Saharan Morocco, because of the crucial role the argan tree plays in sustaining ecosystems and empowering local communities.
