International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer
The ozone layer is a fragile sheet of gas protecting the Earth from harmful portions of the sun’s rays, therefore contributing to the preservation of all life on the planet. Many commonly used chemicals, however, have been found to damage the ozone layer. The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is one of the United Nations’ International Days, commemorating the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement to protect the ozone layer.
