International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

Established by the UN in 1986, the focus of this day is to eradicate contemporary forms of slavery and human trafficking. It is a day of remembrance and recognition and an urgent call on Member States of the UN, civil society, and the private sector to strengthen collective action to put a permanent end to slavery.
