Independence Day (Kosovo)
A national public holiday in Kosovo to commemorate the 2008 declaration of independence of Kosovo from Serbia. The day is celebrated with parades, speeches, concerts and other festive events. A small majority of UN member states recognise Kosovo as an independent nation, but it is not recognised as a UN member state because China and Russia used their veto right to deny it recognition. This day is a symbol of hope and determination for the Kosovar people, who view it as an affirmation of their right to self-determination.
