Independence Day (Indonesia)

This is a national holiday commemorating the anniversary of ‘Indonesia’s proclamation of Independence’ on the 17th of August 1945. On the day before the President addresses the nation. The morning of the 17th, flag hoisting ceremonies are held across the country. At 10 am all Indonesian TV stations broadcast the National Independence Day Ceremony. There are patriotic and cultural parades and local community competitions. The streets are decorated in the colours of red and white, the colours of the national flag.
