Independence Day (Guinea)

The Independence Day of Guinea celebrates the country’s full independence from the French colonial empire in 1958. This day is celebrated as a patriotic, public holiday in Guinea all over the country. To commemorate the day, parades, dances and sport competitions, special meals and concerts are held all over, especially in the capital city of Conakry. Citizens meet in town halls and public squares all over Guinea to hear speeches and remember the day their country gained freedom.
