Independence Day (Cambodia)
This national Cambodian holiday celebrates the anniversary of Cambodia’s independence from France in 1953. The central celebrations are located in Phnom Penh, at the independent monument, however there are some celebrations in many Cambodian provinces. On this day, leaders and representatives of state organisations and public departments must celebrate and participate in the formal ceremony in the morning, where the raising of the national flag and the lighting of the memorial torch is presided by the King of Cambodia. Every state palace is decorated with some slogans and lights, and there is a firework in the Chaktomuk River.
