This day commemorates the date that Albania proclaimed independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912. Albania became an independent state through four constitutional decisions of the Assembly of Vlorë <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assembly_of_Vlor%C3%AB> . The day is celebrated by a festive parade in Tirana. The Albanian flag is ceremoniously raised in the presence of the President, Prime Minister, Tirana’s mayor and other officials.
