Health-Sports Day (Japan)
Health-Sports Day (Taiiku no hi) is a national holiday in Japan celebrated on the second Monday of October. It was established to commemorate the opening of the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo and to promote sports and an active lifestyle. This holiday encourages and inspires good health and more exercise at every level of society, but most especially for children and young adults. Many schools schedule their field days on this day, and a lot of sporting events are held in local parks.
