Hartalika Teej
The Hartalika Teej is the most important of the three teej festivals for Hindu women. Women celebrate Hartaliki teej to worship the Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, the symbol for love, devotion and faithfulness, and to wish for a happy married life. Celebrations differ depending on where you are. In Rajisthan there is a beautiful procession which carries an idol of Goddess Parvati, along with music and dancing. Haritalika Teej is also widely celebrated in Nepal. The auspicious color to wear for women on this day is red and green. They fast till sun down and perform sacred hindu rituals offering Lord Shiva their devotion. Many women pray for their husband’s long and healthy life, on this auspicious day.
