Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist
Luke was a Greek physician, living in the Greek city of Antioch. He was one of the four evangelists, and was author of the ‘Gospel of Luke’ and the ‘Acts of the Apostles’.He was one of the seventy apostles to Jesus and was believed to be a Gentile Christian . He is believed to be a martyr, allegedly being hung from an olive tree. Saint Luke is the patron saint of artists, physicians, bachelors, surgeons, students and butchers.
