12 October

Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity

Day of Respect for Cultural Diversity, formerly known as Dia de la Raza, is a holiday celebrated in Argentina on 12th October. This day revisits the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas and celebrates the diversity of cultures that exist in Argentina and around the world. It is a day to recognize and respect the different cultural backgrounds that make up our society and to promote intercultural dialogue for peace and sustainable development. Schools and most businesses are closed on this day, and the general population has the day off to celebrate and reflect on the importance of cultural diversity.
